New Board Members Elected
In January 2025, from a slate of very well-qualified candidates, the 32nd Street Farmers Market recently elected four new community members and one vendor to join the ten-person all-volunteer Board; four persons on the Board were granted emeritus status. Newly elected Board members will serve two-year terms, which expire March 2027; they may run for office after a year.
In addition to being long-time Market customers who are also deeply involved in their own neighborhood organizations, new community representatives Bonnie MacEslin, John McLane, Ryan Mohler, and Douglas Wetzel bring enthusiasm and particular subject-area expertise to the Board’s administration. Craig Huntley, a former Board member and officer, had been appointed to a vacant position in November and was also affirmed as the fifth community member.
“The Market has been one of my favorite parts of living in Baltimore,” Bonnie asserted, “and there’s a large upside in making it better.” Doug’s qualifications included shopper, part-time vendor, executive chef, and pie-contest judge. Ryan, assisting behind the counter at Little Paris for over 15 years, calls the Market ‘a second home.’ John has been the face and force behind many key Charles Village festivals and foundations.
Second generation vendor Wave Williams of Gardeners Gourmet is looking forward to being a more active participant in this ‘awesome market.’ He joins fellow vendors and officers Joan Norman, president (One Straw Farm), Shane Hughes, treasurer (Liberty Delight Farm), Anna Kent, vice-president (Tom Cat’s Kitchen), and member Dimitri Komninos (Greek Superfoods).
The Board also awarded non-voting emeritus status to four former members: Bernard Hudnall (Natural Aromatics), and community members Miller Roberts III, John Shields, and secretary Susan Walther. The Market asked them to be available through March 2026 to share insights gained from their years of experience.
—Twenty persons actively serve the Market; these include the current and emeritus members of the Board of Directors and the operations staff.
